Everyone knows there’s no such thing as a perfect menu! But since planning a meal is often a headache, it would be nice to find a few handy tricks for the Christmas menu so as to please every guest. Without going into detail about recipes, here are a few pointers to get you started.
Tip 1: try to please everyone!
For Christmas Eve, it’s a good idea to go that extra mile to try to please everyone’s tastes. For example, if you have some vegetarian friends, there’s no point preparing only a meat main course, so try to come up with an alternative that will please everyone. For dessert, spare a thought to those watching their glycaemic levels, and offer a variety of treats.
Tip 2: get organized!
If you are running late, you are going to panic and possibly ruin (almost) everything! So the 2nd important point to consider is timing. As you plan, break your menu, and each dish, down into individual tasks. Then decide when you will need to start. Are there things you can or should begin preparing the night before? While making your plans, draw up you grocery list as well.
Tip 3: Appeal to the tastebuds!
To make sure your dishes look appetizing, play with the different ways of preparing your vegetables, and with the colours of the seasonal produce. Don’t forget to include some starchy foods among your side dishes. Sauces or dressings are best served on the side. If you are looking for some inspiration, take a look under the ‘recipes’ heading.
